Area 16 Sussex Feb 2018 Newsletter & Events for 2018

Area Rep | Published on 2/25/2018

 Dear Fellow Area 16 Members.

Next Regular Club Meeting - Quiz Night - Tuesday Eve March 13th  07.30pm
Wheel Inn at Burwash Address: Heathfield Road, Etchingham TN19 7LA
Phone: 01435 882299

Coming up of the 10th March - Our first organised event this season will be at Vantage Engineering - Saturday morning – 10.00am start, Open day morning at Vantage Engineering & Lightning Quarter Garage (Adjoining) at Rudgwick Brick Works, Lynwick, Street, Rudgwick, Horsham RH12 3DH – with refreshments, entertainment and Scalextric racing. We hope to see a number of AMOC members from around the areas.

Following our decision to trial our monthly meetings during the winter on a Sunday, all getting together for a pub lunch has been very popular, so this will continue during the winter months starting in October.

Our Feb meeting on Sunday 11th saw 10 Aston’s venture out into the sun and 28 members enjoy a catch up at the Red Lion in Ashington. Welcoming Karl & Linda along with their Vanquish "S" who have recently joined AMOC, looking forward to enjoying their company at some of the events planned for 2018.

Aston Martin versus Bently and Lotus?
May 13th Horsham Town Centre Event - Horsham English Festival

No it isn't a brand new race series but an English Festival in Sussex. Horsham town centre have asked AMOC to provide the glamorous backdrop once again to their English Festival of food, drink and crafts on the 13th May. For the past 3 years Area 16 has been successfully providing Horsham with an Aston spectacle of around 30 cars. This year they want to expand their repertoire to other marques too. Surely we don't want to let the Bentley Boys or the Garagistes (as Enzo would say!) beat us in numerical terms or pure spectacle?

This is a call for all those who wish to spend around half a day displaying their lovely Astons in Horsham town centre. You will get free parking in a lovely market town and significant crowds watching you drive in and out of the centre. And you are encouraged to make lots of noise !
To reassure you, Horsham has plenty to keep you occupied so you don't have to stay with your car if you want to explore. In late 2016 we had a pre-production DB11 alongside A3, the oldest surviving Aston along with Area 16 members cars.

We want a great selection of old and new Astons. So the gauntlet is thrown. What cars can we tease out from our members in 2018?

Please contact Mike Bowman on mikebowman06@aol.com or 07980 878443 or Gary Wigzell on 07802 273959 to find out more and register your interest. This is a free event.

See below our planned events for 2018, I am sure you will agree, plenty going on, so I hope there is something for all to enjoy.

Separate E mails will be coming out for some of the main events,

French Drive Weekend:- You will have seen the details for this sent out previously, we have 9 cars booked on this, more details will follow on a separate E Mail.

Gala dinner Event:-  This is a Black & White Themed Shared Event with Area 7, we hope this will be a highlight of the year reflecting on the 2018 season with dining, dancing, and great company. So book your place as soon as possible so as to secure your place, see separate E Mail with details sent on 25th Feb.

I would like to thank everyone in the club for their support throughout 2017, especially those who assisted in the various events we attended.
