On the first weekend in September, 14 Area 22 members and 2 from Area 10 experienced the delights of the Welsh countryside during a 3-day tour very kindly arranged by Andrew Mitchell. We assembled bright and early at the Severn View Services before crossing into Wales over the old Severn Bridge into Chepstow, heading North West up to Brecon and across the Sennybridge Military Ranges, ending up in Aberdovey for a fish and chip lunch by the sea. Replete, we set off for North Wales through the stunning Snowdonia National Park and our hotel just South of Conwy, the Groes Inn. Day 2 consisted of a 200 mile drive around some of the finest roads in North Wales, including the EVO Triangle, which the ‘fun detectors’ have now ruined by adding 'average speed’ cameras! The final day saw us heading back to Worcestershire for lunch along 150 miles of challenging mountain and country roads. In total we covered 600 miles over the 3 days and stretched the legs of our eager Astons.
