February Update

Published on 2/9/2021
Hello everyone

I hope you all remain safe and well.

Our first Area 6 monthly virtual meeting via Zoom took place on the 2nd at which there were 11 members participating during the course of the evening. Whilst this gives me enough support to encourage these to continue, I am a little disappointed at the numbers attending as these are well down on those that usually attend meetings in more normal times. As I’ve mentioned previously, they are not ideal but are pretty much the only way of holding a meeting until restrictions are lifted. The next monthly zoom meeting is the 2ndMarch from 7.30pm so please join us to chat if you are able and feel free to join and leave as you wish. Full details of how to join are set out at the end of this email. I am happy to assist anyone having difficulty in setting up zoom.

Also please let me know if anyone has any specific topic which may be of interest to members that you would be willing to introduce or talk about in a zoom meeting. This could be on any subject such as racing career car tours etc

My last months email update which was sent out for the first time via the new Club Express system has highlighted some issues one important one being if you have a joint membership only the primary member will receive emails unless the secondary members email address has been entered in the profile. If both joint members have received emails in the past you and want these to continue then you will need to update your profile appropriately. Feel free to contact either me or the club office if you have any problems in doing this or accessing your profile.

Our friends at Aston Martin Leeds have been in contact asking me to let members know they are in need of stock and looking to buy used Astons.. If you have one to sell perhaps you should give them a call and mention this email.
At club level the AGM is being held on 27th March at which our area member Anthony Oade is standing for chairman. To have a Yorkshire based club Chairman would be great for our Area and in promoting the Club north of Watford quite apart from the fresh approach Anthony would bring. I therefore urge everyone to support Anthony. I will update on how we can do this in these Covid times as more information becomes available.
Since the December issue of AMNews I have received a number of queries over the use the enhanced area support funding for 2021 announced by Anne Reed in her 'From the Chairman' column. As area reps were not consulted and have not yet been given full details of the scope and process involved this issue is still under query with the club. More details will follow as they become clearer.
