Area 22 January Bicester Scramble

Area22 Rep | Published on 1/17/2022

It was a cold but sunny day at Bicester Heritage on 16 January. There were quite a few Area 22 members and friends wandering around but it is such a large place that generally you run into them by chance rather than by design. I have been going to the Scramble for many years and it certainly improves every time. The arrival queue problem, shortage of toilets, really long queues for food seems to have been resolved although the entry fee has risen dramatically. Sunday 24 April is the next Scramble which will coincide with an Area 22 event we are organising. The choice will be yours!!

Amongst the many fantastic, yet sometimes strange vehicles on show, was this 1914 La Frange. It began life as a fire truck in the US equipped with hoses, nozzles and a pump. It later became the Fire Chief's car. Following restoration it is now waiting to compete in the Peking to Paris Rally in 2023. With its 4 cylinder, 9 litre engine it is competing totally unsupported unlike many other vehicles..
