Area 20 - Area Representative Elections 2023

Area 20 Assist Rep | Published on 9/27/2022

YOUR CHANCE TO HAVE A SAY

Dear Area 20 members,

As we are coming to the end of the year I am now looking to put a plan in place for Area 20 for 2023. As has become tradition at the Christmas party we hold our annual club elections and launch our calendar of events for the coming year. This, together with my round up of this year's events will be covered in my after dinner speech.

I have thoroughly enjoyed being your Area Representative however have decided that this year will be my last, preferring to step down a from the formal position while continuing to support the club by remaining involved with our event planning group. For those who are not aware, there has been a small team of willing volunteers who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to arrange and coordinate the events you have enjoyed over the last year, whose help and support has made my position as Area Rep both enjoyable and less of a burden and my thanks go to them all.

I have also found having an Assistant Rep very helpful this year and propose that it would be beneficial if this position continued, indeed as the club covers such a large geographic area the role of Assistant Rep could possibly be split in two to cover Devon & Cornwall regions should there be sufficient interest.

I would like to ask for members to volunteer for the role of Area Rep and Assistant Rep for Area 20.

I propose the time period for the position of Area Rep should be for just two years (unless they wish to stay on longer) then stand down, that way I believe people might be more willing to step up to run the area knowing they will be in post for just the 2 years

I am delighted to say there are already some great suggestions being proposed for 2023 events &our next planning group meeting will be held on 18 October at 11am at The Moorland Hotel, Haytor to which anyone wishing to volunteer is cordially invited.

It would be most helpful if, prior to the Christmas party the formal business of a handover could be in place. I am therefore hoping that we have volunteers in place at the planning meeting in October leaving only a requirement for a formal seconding at the Christmas party after dinner speech.

If you wish to stand, or nominate someone, for the positions of either Area Rep or Assistant please could you contact me by the 17 October (area20@amoc.org).

Likewise, if you have any suggestions, useful contacts or comments you wish to make with regards to our event calendar for next year please let me know.

Kind regards

Ray
