Area 22 Visit to Mercedes-Benz World
Mercedes-Benz World is a facility at the historic Brooklands motor racing circuit in Weybridge, Surrey. It is owned and operated by the Mercedes-Benz Group and opened in October 2006. I visited it back in 2007 and have returned several times. It is a great day out. A bonus is that entry is free, not something that happens very often nowadays!
The building is spread over three floors with over 100 cars on display including a historic 300SL Gullwing as the full range of current sports and performance models. There is a cinema, restaurant, simulator studio, café, displays and exhibitions and a shop. If you are brave you can book driving time at the AMG Driving Academy and experience the tracks and technical facilities they have to offer.
Adjacent to Mercedes-Benz World is the Brooklands Museum which has a large collection of early motorcars, motorbikes and aeroplanes associated with Brooklands including a Concorde. There is also the London Bus Museum which displays 35 historic London buses dating back to the 1870s.
The date planned is Wednesday 13 March. I appreciate all of this is “round the M25” but with careful planning we can avoid much of the traffic. My initial thoughts are to meet up at the Reading Services on the M4 for a late breakfast and drive on from there. There is plenty of parking at M-BW.
