Area 22 Drive It Day

Sunday 21 April

This the third year that Area 22 has supported Drive It Day, a national fund-raising effort for the charity NSPCC Childline. On the day, 31 members, partners and friends in 16 cars supported the event raising over £250.

We met at the Root and Seeds Café in Cirencester Park where we enjoyed an excellent breakfast before setting off for Bowood House in Wiltshire. The wind was cold but the sun was shining, so off came the Volante tops as we headed south through narrow lanes, picturesque villages and Spring countryside to arrive at Bowood as planned. The Treetop Café provided the sustenance required, as our row of cars provided an attraction for the visiting public. We left heading east towards Marlborough enjoying the “opportunities” the A4 provides along the way. Turning north at Hungerford it was up over the enjoyable driving road to Wantage and on to Witney and the traffic jam that can only be Burford on a Sunday afternoon. A fantastic Sunday lunch was waiting for us at The Feathered Nest at Nether Westcote. The sun shone all day; the shadows beginning to lengthen as the sound of Aston exhausts finally left, heading home after a very successful day.
