The format is well known, well practiced and well loved. We turn up at 'the Carps' around noon, mingle and chat over a welcoming drink and then take our seats for an elongated lunch sitting that includes turkey. A short welcoming address is followed by the announcement of the year's winner(s) of the Area Rep's Award.
Mike & Viv Haynes were there in spirit (we're adorned in their famous collection of Christmas hats and ties) and also briefly live by video link from Austria! Tony & Janie Ellerbeck were also there in spirit (and in the opening address) despite Tony's slow recovery from knee surgery forcing them to stay at home this year.
My thanks to all involved in yet another jolly festive fun-fest. Special call-outs are due to Rick Cullen for providing an AMR cap for which his 'heads & tails' game raised £200 for the Wallace & Gromit Grand Appeal and to Paul & Jan Gerring, this year's deserving winners of the Area Rep's Award.
