Welcome to the Area 16 Sussex July Newsletter

Area Rep | Published on 7/26/2017

Dear Fellow Area 16 Members.

Next Regular Club Meeting Tuesday: 11th July 2017 7.30pm

The Coach and Horses, School Lane, ( Danehill), Haywards Heath, RH17 7JF. Tel: 01825 740369

Thanks to those who attended the Election Night –

With 33 members and 15 Astons in the car park a good social evening was had at our election night, there were no volunteer’s or nominees to take on the role as Area 16 Rep, I put myself forward to continue the role. Voting then took place and along with the proxy votes received, I was voted in to continue as rep for the next period, with a unanimous vote being carried, I will remain the area Rep for the next period. I would like to convey my thanks to all our members for there support. I am also very pleased to announce our new assistant rep Mike Bowman, who very kindly volunteered to assist Area 16 in some events, and again was voted in unanimously, I am sure our members will join me in thanking Mike for coming forward. The area is only successful due to the members who support the club, without them, the club area would not succeed.

It was proposed that the election night date be changed to Oct / Nov in the future, this will allow any incoming Rep or Assistant to plan for the next season’s events rather than coming in part way through the year, this suggestion was passed by all the members who attended and by some E mail responses.

News:

Brooklands AMOC day was a great success with approx. 70 cars attending. We had good weather and were grateful for the shelter being available for lunch. It was great to see people from our neighboring areas and beyond. It has been nice to see members including their families in the day.

Tickerage Vineyard tour – an excellent turn out at Balckboys Inn where we had 12 cars display in the local classic car show held at the Inn. Walking across the local cricket ground to the vineyard where we received a warm welcome from Anthony and his wife Zena supported by their daughter, the history of the family run business was very informative followed by some sparkling wine tasting on the patio, I am sure a few orders were placed. Returning for to the Inn for some lunch did prove a little frustrating as the service was rather slow due to the sheer number of people attending the show, in true area 16 form, this did not dampen the spirits.

Cavalcade of Transport – A new event which we attended with 7 cars on display, I could not attend myself, but judging by the pictures, a good time was had by all.

Harveys Tour – 13 members joined the tour of Harvey’s brewery in Lewis, lots of heritage to see and an excellent tour given by Miles Jenner going through the complete process of brewing the excellent Harvey’s ale finishing in the final bottling and keg filling room for some very enjoyable sampling of a number of different ales, with plenty on offer, a big thank you to the designated drivers. If you get the chance to take part in this tour, I would definitely recommend it.
