The Klemantaski-Parnell Trophy

Photographic competition award.

The Klemantaski-Parnell Trophy

The prestigious Klemantaski photographic competition was first run in 1990, when the entries were judged by Louis Klemantaski himself.

Klemantaski was a pioneer in race car photography, known for his dare-devil approach to getting a good shot: he took pictures of oncoming race cars while standing on the track, and of moving vehicles while hanging out of a moving vehicle himself.

In 1953 Louis and his good friend Reg Parnell came overall fifth in the Mille Miglia, driving a DB3. The prize they won, an impressive silver cup, is now presented annually to the winner of the Klemantaski-Parnell photographic competition.  First awarded in 1990.
