Our spectacular summer driving event

Area Rep | Published on 8/6/2018

On the 5th August Area 1 and Area 21 combined resources for a summer driving extravaganza.

The day started with coffee and bacon butties at The Queen's Head, East Clandon which is Area 1's regular meeting place.  We absolutely filled the car park with 37 cars which then set off for a fun tulip rally to Petworth House where   we displayed the cars in the Deer Park, a glorious setting for a picnic.  The rally was won by Andy and Maria who retained the Area 1 FAROUT Trophy that they won 2 years ago and which we must all try to wrestle from their grasp!

Once we had all availed ourselves of the splendours of Petworth House we then travelled on to the home of Hank Di Mond, a stalwart member who resides on the borders of Area 1 and 21 in the Hampshire countryside. A staggering 43 cars in all took part in the BBQ , with Ian Barclay's DB4 being declared the Ladies Choice.

All in all it was a fantastic gathering of cars and lovely people with huge thanks going to Hank and Nicky who hosted the BBQ and who put on such a fantastic spread.  It was also great to combine with Area 21 and to meet new people - a real example of how the club Areas can really benefit by working together with their neighbours.
