March Update

Hello everyone.

The provisional road map out of lockdown is good news which means we should be able to get out and about again for the second half of the year. We are busy looking at opportunities outside of our regular monthly meetings and those confirmed to date are included in the attached events calendar. Yorkshire Motorsport Festival and Battlesteads are now available to book. Battlesteads proved to be popular last year and with rooms bookable on a first come first served basis book early to avoid disappointment if you are wanting to join us. Updates will follow as others are finalized. This years Burley Classic is unfortunately a further casualty and has been cancelled.

I do not see any other option until July but to hold our regular monthly meetings via zoom but will update thinking if things change. April’s virtual meeting includes our Area AGM at 7.30pm sharp. Chris Holland and I are happy to continue in our respective roles as assistant and area reps and therefore put ourselves forward for re-election. If there are any other nominations could I have these please by 16thMarch to give time to circulate them. You can join by clicking the link below and once again feel free to join and leave as you wish. Please take this newsletter as formal notice of the meeting with the following agenda

  1. Review of area 6 Finances – bank account review report from Kath Hudson
  2. Election or Area and assistant Reps
  3. Any other business.

At club level it is the AGM on Saturday 27thMarch 2021 with some contested posts. Everyone should have received formal notices etc but I have been asked to redistribute the attached ballot paper and proxy forms. As there appears to be some glitch in the filing of resolutions in the past meaning we can only vote by ballot for contested offices by completing and returning the forms as per instructions by the deadline date of 17thMarch. I have also been asked to emphasize that where membership is joint then each person is entitled to a separate vote. I shall be supporting Anthony Oade for Chairman if nothing else but to get the north on the map! Anthony will also be getting my proxy. I will be happy to discuss other voting so if anyone wants further input please give me a call.

I notice some members are delaying renewal of subscription in this period of lockdown partly due to the new system creating a future renewal date a year after payment rather than 31stDecember. Those who have not renewed will be unable to vote at the AGM and after a period of grace of I believe of 1 month will no longer receive any communication or publications from the club.

The club is also keen for more Area interaction so I am looking at ways where we can achieve this. To help facilitate this under your profile section of the new club express website you can elect to receive communications from other areas doing which will highlight any event outside of area 6 that might appeal.

Finally, here are the details for next month’s zoom Area AGM and natter and I hope to ‘see’ you there.
