The Annual Dinner this year was a Goldfinger themed spectacular! Yes it’s been 60 years would you believe since the first screening of James Bond in Goldfinger so of course we had to take advantage of this and have a little fun!!
The night began with a 007 themed Pommery champagne and canapé reception with plenty of photo opportunities to be had with Auric Goldfinger and his manservant Oddjob (who although can’t speak was very capable of a growl now and again).
Following that was the scrumptious 3 course dinner, wine and coffee with petit fours accompanied by our very own Stephen Archer who gave a fascinating talk and shared movie clips from his own adventure locating a missing Bond car, more about that to come!
Outside sat one of the two DB5 publicity cars produced by Aston Martin in 1965, complete with guns, bullet screen, smoke screen, ejector seat and all manor of spy gadgets which were fully displayed to the guests who were also allowed to sit in it much to everyone’s delight. Alongside a beautiful 1965 DB5 in Silver Birch very kindly displayed by proud member Graham Grover, thank you Graham.
Back inside, our wonderful Shirley Bassey impersonator serenaded us with ‘Goldfinger’ and many more 007 songs. While the casino tables opened and many chanced their hand thanking their lucky stars that they weren’t real chips they were losing!
The evening then moved on to dancing the night away to the DJ until carriages came to collect their now weary but very happy customers. A big thank you to Lockton Performance for kindly supporting our event, Champagne Pommery and all of our other partners.
