Our mid-March meeting at Haighton Manor was attended by 28 people and 11 Astons (and a Lotus) and we were able to arrive before dark and enjoy a wonderful sunset together in the car park. It was great to meet Simon Doyle and his son Matthew who came in their Rapide S. Melissa Dabrowski revealed she has the first of a set of children’s books being published 25 April. Copies of “Reggie the Rooster” can be purchased on-line at www.austinmacauly.com.

Our Astons at Haighton Manor
Our early April meeting at The Space Invader had 28 people and 15 Astons. It was dry and plenty of time to admire the Astons before it got dark.

Our Astons at The Space Invader
Only 2 days later we had our first outing of 2025 for a weekend to Great Malvern where the weather was sunny throughout. We stayed at the Abbey Hotel and many of us had lunch at the Trumpet Inn in Trumpet. A big thank you to John Carter who organised the trip and for producing an excellent Road Book.

Great Malvern Weekend

Great Malvern Astons
Hopefully building on our successful trip to Great Malvern we are gearing up for our Lincoln “Dambusters” weekend and shortly afterwards on 25 May is our 90th anniversary lunch at Gibbon Bridge – currently 47 are going for the latter so should be a lively day and it is still not too late to sign up.
Finally, please join me in welcoming new members Andrew Edwards, Stephen Crompton, Peter Howard and William Jack.
Area 9 Lincoln “Dambusters” Weekend 9-11 May

Dave Travis is organising a Dambusters themed weekend trip for us near Lincoln Friday 9th to Sunday 11th May 2025 and is now sold out with 32 people having booked their hotel rooms.
Area 9 AMOC 90th Anniversary Lunch at Gibbon Bridge, Sunday 25 May

Our first Sunday lunch event for 2025 will be at The Gibbon Bridge Hotel, Green Lane, Chipping Preston PR3 2TQ on the exact date 90 years ago that that AMOC held its first meeting.
We will start the day with a special 90th anniversary themed photoshoot ideally with as many of our Astons as possible. This will be held in time to drive to the hotel for 1pm. Further information will be provided when details are confirmed.
Arriving from 1pm we will sit down for lunch in the Conservatory at 2pm for a three-course meal and coffee for £41.25.
I you are interested a deposit of £10pp is required with final payment and menu choices by 4 May. Cancellation is free and refundable up to 18 May. It is a public holiday that weekend so if you fancy staying over there is a special rate for bed and breakfast based on two sharing at £150 per room or for a single at £90. To get the special rate please phone the hotel and say you are with AMOC.
Tour of Spain & Portugal, 21 September – 3 October 2025

The trip takes 12 days which helps to minimise leave requirements for those still working and keeps costs to a reasonable level. Most if not all properties offer private parking on-site which is an important feature for our cars. The tour allows exploration of Madrid by use of rail service without the need to drive.
