Area 22 Winter Gathering

The annual Winter Gathering held at the Frogmill has developed into what could easily be described as a “house party”. The “team” began early preparing The Snug, laying out the place names, decorating the tables and lighting the candles as the disco music warmed up in the background.
The thirty-two attendees gathered in the bar for an early snifter but were soon surprised by the appearance of a “scotsman” looking for a party! The girls were in their best “frocks” (a term my mother used), the boys adjusting their bow ties declaring their trouser waist bands had shrunk since last year! It was soon time to vacate the bar for The Snug which all agreed looked like the perfect setting for a house party. Champagne corks (actually Prosecco corks) were soon popping and with charged glasses I proposed a toast to Area 22.. “to a very successful 2025 and bon chance for 2026”.
Time to sit down to a traditional three course dinner. It all went well, the wine bottles mysteriously emptying themselves whilst the disco played softly in the background. After the turkey it was time for the raffle, a FREE raffle. A wonderful model of the Bond Goldfinger DB5 was up for offer under the slogan:
See the film,
Drive the brand,
Excite yourself …
A toy in your hand!
Tickets distributed, it was time for the draw; a 1 in 32 chance of winning .. not bad odds?. Won by Debbie, the DB5 has gone to a good home where it will be treasured by the grandchildren.
Time for the dance floor …turn up the music…kick off the shoes. In a blue disco world the dancing continued until after midnight. Following the inevitable good night kisses, those staying the night shambled off to their rooms whilst the team put the candles back in the box and the disco fell silent. All done for another year.
I should like to personally thank those that supported the evening … I hope you enjoyed it.
