Members Aston Martin - April 2026

This month's Home Page image is from Bob and Erica Maurer from the GBR of their Aston Martin Lagonda Series 4 F1 WEJ.

F1 WEJ came into our lives 10 years ago. The result of spending too much time flicking through internet adverts by a pool on holiday. My wife and I continue to have a lot of fun with this lovely car. It attracts conversation wherever we go. Notable highlights during our ownership include:

  • In 2018 at the Royal Automobile Club Midsummer concours the car won ‘best modern performance car’ (cars 1986 or newer). Competition included a Ferrari F50!
  • In 2021 it won the post war Lagonda class in the AMOC Virtual Concours during Covid. An amazing result as it was up against a stunning and very rare Series 1 long wheelbase Lagonda.
  • In 2022 at the Aston Martin Heritage Festival at Brooklands the car was part of a group of five wedges parked under the wing of Concorde alongside the Aston Martin Bulldog.
  • At the 2024 London City Concours at the Honourable Artillery Company, F1 WEJ was invited to display in the aero section.
  • At the 2025 Hampton Court Concours, it was part of a curated group of 30 cars representing design development over the history of Aston Martin. A well organised event with all the cars displayed in date order. Our wedge was much admired and we had crowds around it all day. A nice touch was that it was parked next to the lovely Series 1 that we were up against in the 2021 virtual concours!
  • Also in 2025 it featured in a collection of 30 cars at a 90th anniversary lunch at the Royal Automobile Club in Epsom, Surrey. F1 WEJ was the only Lagonda. Subsequently described in AM Monthly magazine (including a photo at the event) as the ‘legendary wedge Lagonda’!

It has been featured in a number of publications including ‘Aston Martin Lagonda, Yesterday’s Tomorrow today’ by Richard Vaughan, a recently published book by Matthew Vale, ‘The V8 Legacy’ where it receives 5 pages to itself, and most recently in the AMOC Glovebox Guide.

We like to use the car for shows and charity events, notably dream rides with Sporting Bears where it is popular as most dream ride cars are 2 seaters but F1 WEJ can take a family.

Day to day we use the car as much as we can and an important ‘extra’ is a hammock for the rear seat so our cocker spaniel can travel with us.
