Area 10 September 2026 Update

Our Tom May Special meeting at the Eton College Rowing Centre was a great success, and from the feedback was much-enjoyed by the 134 people who attended with their 65 Astons (plus the odd intruder!) We were fortunate with the weather with sufficient cloud to make a colourful sunset. Last year’s winners of the Tom May awards chose their successors – Ricky Ubbi chose Mark Anderson’s 1968 DBS Vantage as The Aston I Would Like To Take Home, and Chris Youell chose Alan West’s hyper red DB12 as The Best Aston. Both winners took home a bottle of Pommery Champagne. I would like to thank the volunteers who helped the event run smoothly, and in particular would like to mention Lisa and Greta from HQ who brought along, set up (and took down) the paraphernalia borrowed from AMOC HQ. We are already in discussions for next year’s event – the date for next year will be Thursday 5 August 2027.

Jo and I attended the Prescott Hill Climb on Saturday 8 August and parked up with several other Astons (and a Lotus). It was a pleasant family event and worth a visit if you live to the west of our Area, or if you have relatives within one mile of the track!

Eight Area 10 Astons filled our allocation for RAF Benson Families’ Day. We were conveniently displayed inside a hanger out of the intense sunshine, although we had to emerge in order to experience the static exhibits and the flying displays. I had a go in a Chinook’s pilot’s seat and was impressed by the number of levers, pedals and switches to be mastered.

We had over 30 Area 10 Astons attending Simply Aston Martin at Beaulieu, a dozen of which rendezvoused at the M3 Winchester Services before heading off in two groups to all be parked up together in two rows. At 1:00pm all of the Area 10 mascots converged for a photoshoot and friendly competition. Karina Walker from Area 00 was recruited as an independent judge to select her favourite mascot. The winner of the prize of an Aston Martin mug was Sylvia Maidlow’s bear (called Jeff) holding a bunch of flowers. Diane Cox took this group photo which is now the cover photo for our Area 10 Facebook page.

On Wednesday 26 August a dozen Members visited firstly Rycote Park and then Waterperry Gardens. Sarah Taylor, Rycote’s owner, hosted us starting with refreshments in the beautifully restored barn whilst she recounted the fascinating history of the property dating from the Norman Conquest. Sarah then led us on a walking tour to include the 15^th Century chapel, the ice house, the gardens and a small part of the 400+ acre grounds. The visit concluded with a photoshoot of our cars alongside a DB9 Volante belonging to Sarah’s husband.

We then departed in convoy to our lunch destination at nearby Waterperry Gardens where they had arranged special parking for us. They had also reserved tables in their “Tea Shop” for a very pleasant lunch. It was a nice surprise to be joined there by new Member Erik Schmidt (and his Vantage).

Future Events

A last minute reminder that we have again been invited to exhibit our Astons at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre Auto Fest on bank holiday Monday 31 August. They welcome cars, motorbikes, vans, buses, fire engines and bicycles to be displayed in a field, but our Astons will have a special area reserved by the Visitor Centre. Steam train rides and all the fun of their heritage railway will be on offer as well as their extensive museum exhibits on the 26-acre site. There is a suggested (but not obligatory) donation of £6 per car for exhibitors.

Saturday 5 September is Salon Privé Club Trophy Day at Blenheim Palace. Tickets are on sale at preferential rate of £55 per person for parking in the Aston Martin paddock

Our monthly meeting for September will be held on Thursday 10 September at The Spade Oak, Bourne End, SL8 5PS from 6:30pm. We will be joined by Paul Trill who will be handing out the tour books for our WW1 tour to Belgium.

The Kop Hill hillclimb event at Princes Risborough is being held over the weekend of 12/13 September. It is an annual 2-day event in aid of local charities. Area 10 Member Mark Pilling has arranged for the AMOC to have a stand there and so if you wish to go up the hill or simply display your Aston on one or two days, you can elect to park in the AMOC area - see Home - Kophill Climb

Bookings are open until Friday 4 September for the AMOC Autumn Weekend on 26 & 27 September. The weekend offers a drive-out, dinner and concours and is being held at Bowood House, Wiltshire. See: Autumm Weekend 2026 Bowood Estate - Aston Martin Owners Club

The annual Aston meet at the Ace Café on the North Circular Road takes place on Saturday 17 October from 10am to 4pm. That is also the date of the AMOC Annual Dinner at the RAC Club, Woodcote Park.

The Classic Motor Show takes place at the NEC Birmingham on 13 to 15 November. The AMOC will have a stand there and you can buy discounted tickets using the code CCASTMAN6

A date for your diary – Geoff & Carole Dische have arranged for our Area10 New Year Dinner to be held at The Gerrards Cross Golf Club on Saturday 9 January 2027.
