If you have never been to one of Jeff's events at Eton Dorney, it is an absolute must-do pilgrimage at some point in your Aston life. This year Jeff had over 60 Astons and over 100 attendees - sorry, I didn't do a proper count, but I'm sure you'll get a properly serious write-up from Jeff elsewhere in the magazine - all parked expertly in front of the Eton Dorney rowing lake with the setting sun as a backdrop. As with most of this year's British summer the sun was out in full force, and the clouds only made an appearance for artistic value.
The journey there for the central Londoners was rather less serene than the picture that greeted us on arrival. An accident closed the A4 at a strategically inconvenient location, sending many of us through the Chiswick back streets and my car in particular into a hot flush that required turning the AC into full winter heat mode to keep the engine cool - melting my shoes in the process. Thank you again, Jeff, for inviting us and for going above and beyond to accommodate some last-minute entries (me included).
At the time of writing it is too early to update you on the Salon Privé vs Hampton Court face-off and the other early September events, but hopefully we'll have all that next time.
Our next RAC drinks in Pall Mall are on 17th September from 18:30 until late, back to the usual rhythm after the summer break. Confirmation will come by email to those of you subscribed to Area 00 in the club system.
I’m sure as the summer comes to an end we will start getting questions regarding whether we are having a Christmas party this year or not. All I can say at this stage is that nothing is confirmed but you should start saving your pennies.
All the best.
