Area 10 October 2026 News
My September copy of AM Monthly arrived rather late this month, but I was pleased to see that it included three photos from our Tom May Special meeting at the Eton College Rowing Lake including one of the sunset on the front cover. A reminder that the date for the event next year will be Thursday 5 August 2027.
I was unable to make it to the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre Auto Fest on bank holiday Monday but I hear that five Area 10 Astons attended and were displayed as promised outside the visitor centre. The Centre have been in touch and say that they are looking forward to welcoming us again next year.
Once again, the Salon Privé Club Trophy Day at Blenheim Palace coincided with the Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace but there was a good turnout of Astons at both events.
We held our monthly meeting for September at The Spade Oak, Bourne End. Our meeting clashed with another event at the venue which meant that a few of our Members parked in the overflow car park. The Snug comfortably accommodated the 35 Members present. We were joined by Paul Trill who is organising our WW1 themed tour to Belgium. Paul distributed the tour packs and fielded questions.
Mark Pilling kindly organised our presence at the Kop Hill hillclimb. We had six cars on our pitch each day with a couple taking the opportunity of driving up the hill in front of the packed grandstands.
The AMOC Autumn Weekend on 26 & 27 September was held at Bowood House, Wiltshire. It was good to see several Area 10 Members at the dinner at The Bowood Hotel on the Saturday evening. In particular it was a pleasure to meet recently-joined Member Dennis Markey. The weather for the concours on Sunday started dry but decided to rain during the serving of the Bollinger Champagne and the prize-giving. It was great to see Area 10 Member John Pawsey winning the Newport Pagnell 6-cylinder category with his stunning DB5 that he has owned for 50 years.
Future Events
35 Members in 18 Astons will be heading off for our WW1 tour to Belgium on Tuesday 6 October. My own grandfather is commemorated in the Tyne Cot cemetery whilst Jo’s great-uncle’s grave is nearby.
We are holding our monthly meeting for October on the 15th as the usual date clashes with our Belgium tour – the meeting will be at The Bird in Hand, Knowl Hill from 6:30pm.
The annual Aston Meet at the Ace Café on the North Circular Road takes place on Saturday 17 October from 10am to 4pm. If you plan to attend it is helpful if you email Member Paul Clarke (ockyclarke@hotmail.com) with your registration number. The 17th is also the date of the AMOC Annual Dinner at the RAC Club, Woodcote Park.
The Classic Motor Show takes place at the NEC Birmingham on 13 to 15 November. The AMOC will have a stand there and you can buy discounted tickets using the code CCASTMAN6
A date for your diary – Geoff & Carole Dische have arranged for our Area10 New Year Dinner to be held at The Gerrards Cross Golf Club on Saturday 9 January 2027.
Other News
We have some Members who are new to Area 10 over the past month – I would like to welcome Rich Wickson & Tammy Pratley and Warren Humphreys.
