This month's Home Page image is of Claude Bovet (Blackthorn) 2024 Vantage GT3 EVO. The car has been picked from the Members Car Collection.
The car was photographed on the race track at Portimao in Portugal during the Le Mans Cup, the support race for the European Le Mans Series. Blackthorn is an Aston Martin AMR Partner Team competing at the highest levels of international GT racing. Founded as part of the Blackthorn Group by Claude Bovet, the team operates in collaboration with the historic Ecurie Ecosse team for the 2026 and 2027 race seasons.
In October 2026 Blackthorn won the 2026 International GT Open Pro-am championship after a battle from the very rear of the grid following two offs during the start of the race, an epic race to win the championship which seemed lost in the early hours of the race. Starting this November, the number #70 car, racing under the Ecurie Ecosse Blackthorn name and commemorative livery, will begin its attempt to win the Asian Le Mans Series to capture the GT3 entry for the 2027 Le Mans 24 Hours race. It will be the same crew that raced ALMS last year which culminated with a win in the last race of the championship at Abu Dhabi; Giacomo Petrobelli, Kobe Pauwels and Jonny Adam. The #56 car raced at the gruelling 24 Hours of Spa this summer with Giacomo and Jonny and was challenging for podium until the front left brakes exploded and the car had to be dragged into the pits to replace the missing front left wheel. The pit stop famously made the rounds of social media as the front left bumper caught fire in the pits, a scene which looked particularly dramatic during the night session.
