Bristol Classic Car Show 2017 - Area 4

Area Rep | Published on 6/23/2017

Area 4 was represented by a trio of Astons at the Bristol Classic Car Show on June 17-18: Bob Carter’s DB4, Michael Pye’s DB6 Vantage and Mike Jones’s DB7 GT.

The event took place in scorching temperatures which, along with the event clashing with the Weston Air Show, may explain why the crowds appeared to be down on previous years. That didn't reduce their enthusiasm nor their appreciation of our Aston Martins... quite right too!

The AMOC contingent were certainly pleased to be in the relative coolness of the Showering Pavilion!

Centrepiece of the stand was Michael’s 1966 DB6 Vantage which attracted a huge amount of interest. Several visitors were already aware of the car’s history from pre-event publicity and the article in the current issue of Vantage Magazine, which also featured on A3 posters on the stand’s dividing panels.

Michael was on hand on Sunday to answer questions from the public, many of whom were amazed that the car had just owner from new, pointing out that he was ‘just the owner’ and ‘the car’s the star’.

Bob Carter’s DB4 also generated a lot of interest and impressed the show judges sufficiently to receive a Highly Commended rosette.

Thanks to Bob Carter, Matthew Maneely, Bev Jones and Michael, Rosemary and David Pye for helping make the event such a success.

Footnote: Author and Photos, Mike Jones. Area Rep, Andrew Fawkes, says thank you again to Mike for volunteering to manage the stand and doing so so successfully.
