Dear Fellow Area 16 Members.
Next Regular Club Meeting Tuesday: 13th June 07.30pm Election Night at The Gardeners Arms, Selsfield Rd, Ardingly RH17 6TJ. Tel:01444 892328
Election Night – please make Gary aware if you wish to put yourself up for election. Only current members can vote. We would ask you to check your membership status, due to changes in the AMOC HQ ensure you have your new membership card, this will have a DB11 on the front. Anyone is welcome to join area 16 for the evening but only members may vote. Postal/Email votes will be counted if received by 5pm on the 13th June.
A proposal will be put forward at the election night to change future election dates to October/November the purposes being, should I wish to stand down, I would like someone to have time to have a proper hand over, the main reason behind my thoughts, is so that a new representative will get the chance to plan the events for the following year without too much in the diary. Please do let me have your thoughts on this proposal, at this stage; it is purely my personal preference.
Assistant Rep: We sadly lost Jan as our assistant some months ago, it has been difficult to function efficiently without a full team, I thank you for your support and with the position still vacant, hopefully someone will step up on or before election night.
News:
German Tour – It was amazing; sorry to those who didn’t come along, especially to the Powderham’s who unfortunately could not attend due to illness, but thanks to Volker and Elisabeth Gerhard who put together an excellent few days, a full report has been submitted to the AM Quarterly it would be a shame to spoil you with details before that’s published. Everyone enjoyed the tour and if you missed out, as the tour chant advises, READ THE *@^&ing manual (Newsletter) and you won’t miss out again. We look forward to the Gerhards visiting in September and hope that we can arrange a tour reunion of sorts it won’t be the same without the ‘cloggies’ but we will do our best.
Look out for details of next year, which looks at the moment to be September in Anglem.
Croquet afternoon at Peter and Caroline Player, once again Caroline, assisted by her daughter provided us with some excellent treats, thank you so much for all your efforts and well done to Peter on winning the afternoons competition. I feel he may have more practice than the rest of us!
Herstmonceux with JEC, a lovely day by invite of the Jaguar Enthusiast Club saw 15 Astons attending, it was a good day with plenty to see, the observatory had more to offer than I expected, think I will be returning with the grandchildren before long! Thanks to John for extending the invite to AMOC and we look forward to more joint events.
