On Saturday July 22 2023, the annual AMOC Weekend in Victoria began with 15 Aston Martins participating in a visit and tour of the BC Aviation Museum. Half of the Astons were from out of town. James Duffus along with Amanda Zhender in his Black/Sahara Tan Vantage 2015 V8 Roadster crossed the US border with from Seattle Washington and Jason and Lu Switzer drove their supercharged 600hp Meteorite Silver 2006 V8 Vantage over 1200 kilometers from St. Albert Alberta to join us.
Aston Models in attendance ranged from Colin Percy’s pristine Blue 1938 Aston 15/98 to Wayne Hung’s stunning Satin Green 2023 Vantage F1.
The museum highlights Victoria Airport’s role in early days of the Second World War in the area of pilot training. Early days of BC Aviation innovations are on display lead by informative tour guides. Life sized dioramas enhanced the museum visit experience. Under the Maintenance and Workshop hangar, pieces of a Lancaster bomber is under restoration and a newly arrived Canadian Air Force CF-104 Starfighter were couple highlights of the static displays.
Lunch was across the street at the Mary’s Bleue Moon Café, an aviation themed pub which hosted our group of 30. It was a great setting to re-aquaint ourselves from the last time we met and to welcome new Aston Owners to our group.
The day ended with a Dinner Buffet held at the University Club with 22 dinner guests recapping the day’s event. Many James Bond characters of year’s past joined us and made quite an impressionable group photo.
On day 2, Sunday morning, we had 18 Aston Martins lining up the entrance to the 23rd annual Oak Bay Collector Car Festival. This is our 6th year participating to this annual 300 cars spread over 5 city blocks.
Colin Percy's 1938 Aston 15/98 was quite the crowd magnet at our Aston Martin section.
