We've done it before and sometimes the weather has played ball too!

The food's great and the service too - https://www.hartleyskitchen.online/contact-us/

If the weather's OK, turn up in a 'nice' car. If not, turn up in your 'daily' for a chat and look forward to spring around the corner.

Breakfast is served from 09:30 and we'll be all done by about 11:00.

We need to pre-order our menu choices so that we don't swamp the kitchen.

Please e-mail me (Andrew, Area Rep) using area4@amoc.org to book your place and I'll send you the breakfast menu to choose from.

A visit to the National Memorial Arboretum. This is a site of national remembrance at Alrewas near Lichfield in Staffordshire, about a 1.5-hour drive. The objective is to honour the fallen, recognise service and sacrifice, and foster pride in the British Armed Forces and civilian community. Following major regeneration, it was reopened in March 2017. It features three new exhibition galleries, a restaurant, coffee shop and courtyard with garden.
We shall enjoy what is known as a Winter Warmer. This is pie and mash in the Remembrance Centre whilst learning about the Arboretum from one of the experienced volunteers. After that we are booked on the Land Train to take us for a “weatherproof” trip around the Arboretum to see the Memorials.
The date is not absolutely fixed, I am waiting confirmation.

Following the success of last year, this will be our first drive out of 2023. Most Astons will be back on the road by this time so we hope for a good showing. National Drive It day was created by the British Historic Vehicle Clubs as an opportunity to celebrate the One Thousand Mile Trial run in 1900 to prove the viability of the new invention, the motor car. It is also now an event to support NSPCC’s Childline Service through purchasing rally plaques for £10. In 2022 Area 22 raised over £200. Our route will take us through the Herefordshire and Welsh countryside to Hay on Wye. Come and join us.

Many of those who shared the Scotland Tour in April 2022 have expressed a desire to do a repeat (of sorts) in 2023. Following discussions, I investigated a trip to the Isle of Man that is offered by Scenic Car Tours (SCT) from 18 to 22 May 2023.

The cost is £629 pp (sharing a room and car) staying 4 nights at the Comis Golf Hotel & Spa (the parking is better here than at the alternative accommodation shown on the SCT website).

Includes:
• IOM Steampacket Ferry Crossing from Liverpool or Heysham
• 4 Nights 4* Hotel accommodation in the Comis Hotel & Golf Spa Resort
• Breakfast each morning
• EXCLUSIVE Closed Road Runs on the Sloc Mountain Road including Course Marshals
• EXCLUSIVE Access to the TT Pitlanes for a photo-shoot opportunity with Marshals
• Inclusive Admission to the IOM Motor Museum
• Inclusive Lunch/Tea at the famous Creg-Ny-Baa
• Detailed Road Book featuring Maps, Great Island Drives & Local Attractions
• Commemorative Tour Rally Plate
• Complimentary Car Parking at the Hotel

If you fancy coming along, please let me know asap.

The event is popular with other SCT customers and hotel rooms are limited. I don’t yet know how much capacity there is and so apologies in advance if this trip proves too popular for the available accommodation.

I will keep a reserves list that, as proved vital for the Scotland trip, enabled some people to come along who were originally on the reserves list.

Please e-mail me (Andrew Fawkes) using area4@amoc.org to book your place.

Please do not contact SCT directly about this event. I am working with SCT to maximise our opportunity (e.g. making sure our group remains together). Thank you.
